The Saharian Republic is a human-dominated nation located across the Silent Arm region of the galaxy. A relatively young representative democracy with a strong central government and a mixed economy, Saharia is the strongest standing representation of human power in Garellia. Ruthless traditional beliefs and politics intermingled with an emergent democratic government has given way to a nation whose power and identity is in constant flux.
Although Saharia is a young nation, the area which it encompasses has existed since the earliest days of the United Terran Empire. Saharia, consequently is majority human - only a tiny percentage of the nation’s residents are anything other than pureblood Terrans. Its human population enjoys a generally excellent quality of life and opportunity. This is no more true than in the past decade, with the rise of the Republic from the ashes of the Greater Saharian Commonwealth. Under the reign of Executor Jason Ellecon and his loyalists, the nation has seen an explosion in Saharia’s economy, influence, quality of life, military power, and technological sophistication. Despite being far more liberal than its galaxy-spanning predecessor of old, the Republic is an ethnostate. Alien species find it more difficult to succeed in Saharian society, and any transhuman or posthuman races are barred from entry into the country without a visa.

Terrans originate from the planet Earth. As the name implies, Saharian Terrans are descended from the planet of Sahar - a former tropical paradise which was rendered uninhabitable over a millennia ago. Sahar was one of the earliest colonies of Terrans as mankind expanded throughout the galaxy, becoming one of the Core Worlds of the United Empire upon its foundation. As a result, Saharian humans are slightly different from most other Terrans. Saharians prefer warmer and wetter climates, and typically have less variety in hair and eye colors. Thanks to modern medical technology, the average Saharian can enjoy a natural lifespan in excess of two hundred years.

Terrans are natural born explorers and pioneers. Even after the destruction of Earth and the thousands of years that followed, humanity has always been driven to uncover and conquer the unknown. This is true to this day, with the Republic seeing no shortage of volunteers signing up for the nation’s ceaseless colonization initiative.
As a nation whose people endured the Dark Ages, a natural sense of independence is imbued into all Saharians. As the hyperspecialized and optimized economy of the Universal Empire came to a complete grinding halt, every human across the galaxy was forced to adapt. Self-sufficiency and knowledge of practical skills are not only treasured by the nation’s culture and history, but modern expressions of this bootstrap mentality are protected by the Central Government. Sweeping legislation has been passed to protect small and family-owned businesses from absorption by the nation’s megacorporations. Hand crafted goods and hundreds of thousands of unique restaurants and stores are not only a sense of pride for those who work and shop there, but are an attraction for tourists and visitors.
